​The transparency of hand thrown porcelain, combined with crystalline glazes allow the solid mineral world to become translucid. The vessel is  three dimensional and when you look at the glazed surface you have crystals adding  three dimensions to the flat surface.

My passion for ceramic functional art is what drives me to explore new ways to exploit the characteristics of porcelain, purity and translucidity. The translucid vessel and crystalline glazes give depth to the piece.

 I believe excellent craftmanship is in itself art.​

 

While following pottery courses with Digby Hoets in South Africa I imitated the deep iron colours of the rocks and soil to my functional stoneware.

Later when living in Ireland I constructed a 50 cubic foot propane gas kiln allowing me to work in oxidation and reduction atmospheres. Reduction firing opening up more possibilities for artistic expression. Now in Amsterdam I am exploring the qualities of porcelaine and crystalline glazes.
